Overview

• During my sophomore-year winter internship at Atom, a young but top-rated meditation app on the Play Store, I worked closely on the core product experience.
• My responsibilities involved conducting usability tests, interviewing users worldwide, and identifying design challenges.
• After the internship, I initiated a Design System Project to bring harmony and speed to the team’s cross-platform design process.

Why Initiate a Design System?

• In a small startup, the team moves fast and often too fast for design consistency. But inconsistency costs time and clarity.
• During design sprints, five designers could easily produce five versions of the same button or dialogue box, distracting from the real problem.
• By using a unified design language, everyone could shift focus away from visual differences and toward solution quality.
